About the Recipe

Ingredients
4 Ahi Tuna Steaks
1-4 Tablespoons of olive oil or coconut oil
Garlic Salt
Onion Powder
Preparation
Pat the Tuna Dry
Pat the tuna dry and sprinkle seasonings evenly on both sides.
Heat the Pan
Use a heavy-bottomed skillet or cast-iron pan for the best sear. Heat it over medium-high heat until very hot but not smoking. A hot pan is essential to create a caramelized crust on the outside while keeping the inside tender.
Sear the Tuna Steaks
Place the steaks in the hot pan and sear for about 1.5 to 2 minutes on each side (I typically sear for 3-4 minutes for a more well-done tuna steak). Adjust the cooking time if you prefer your tuna more cooked.
Rest and Serve
Transfer the tuna steaks to a plate and let them rest for a few minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute, keeping the meat moist. Slice the steaks against the grain into thin strips for the best texture.
