Homemade Strawberry Pop-Tart

About the Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 pre-made pie crusts

  • 10-12oz fresh strawberries, chopped

  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar

  • 2 Tablespoons lemon juice

  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

  • 1 Cup powdered sugar

  • 1-2 Tablespoons milk

  • Optional: Food coloring for glaze and sprinkles

Preparation

Strawberry Filling

1. In a small saucepan, combine chopped strawberries, sugar, and lemon juice.


2. Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently until the mixture thickens and becomes glossy, about 10-15 minutes.


3. Remove from heat and let it cool completely before using.


Assembly

1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.


2. Roll out one pre-made dough


3. Place your strawberry filling in the middle leaving a 1in to 1/2in gap from the edge.


4. Brush the edges with egg wash, then place the second pre-made dough on top.


5. Press the edges together with a fork to seal and poke a few holes on top to allow steam to escape.


6. Brush the tops with egg wash for a golden finish


7. Bake the Pop-Tarts for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. Let them cool on a wire rack.


Sweet Glaze


Mix powdered sugar with milk until smooth and spread on pop-tart. Add sprinkles on top or food coloring to icing for fun colors!
